As it turns out, podcaster Joe Rogan may have an ally on the left. CNN contributor Mary Katharine Ham defended Rogan’s use of ivermectin in a tweet Friday following Rogan’s contentious interview with the network’s chief medical analyst.
Ivermectin has become a talking point for some left-leaning commentators who criticized Rogan for taking the drug while he was battling COVID-19.
Rogan went head-to-head with Dr. Sanjay Gupta during a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. Rogan railed on Gupta for CNN’s alleged dishonest assessment of ivermectin.
“Rogan is right that it’s dishonest to say he took horse dewormer when he did not,” tweeted Ham. “It was irresistible to dunk on him for a lot of people, so they went with that instead of sticking to, ‘Hey, this anti-parasitic isn’t recommended for COVID treatment,’ which would’ve been credible.”
“Does it bother you that the news network you work for outright lied about me taking horse dewormer?” Rogan said.
“They shouldn’t have said that” said Gupta.
