Newsmax White House Correspondent Emerald Robinson has received a suspension to her Twitter account following a tweet concerning the COVID-19 vaccine. Robinson tweeted the vaccines contain “a bioluminescent marker called LUCIFERASE so that you can be tracked.”
The media outlet distanced themselves from their correspondent’s opinion as they issued a statement saying that the remarks Robinson are her own and don’t necessarily reflect those of the company.
“Newsmax is a strong proponent that Covid 19 vaccines are overarchingly safe and effective while at the same time raising concerns that mandates infringe on personal liberty and privacy,” the statement said.
“We have seen no evidence to suggest LUCIFERASE or LUCIFERIN are present in any vaccines or that they are used as any sort of bioluminescent marker.”
Nonetheless, these claims over the vaccine not only resulted in the Tweet being taken down, but Twitter suspended her account for violating the social media platform’s rules.
“The account you referenced has been temporarily locked for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy,” a Twitter spokesperson told Mediate.
