Eric Adams: It’s Time We Learn to Live With COVID-19

Like most of the United States, New York sees a spike in Covid-19 cases, and with the holidays now over, health experts expect to see more people test positive for the virus.

However, newly-elected New York City Mayor Eric Adams says that it doesn’t mean heading into lockdowns, leading to businesses closing and students returning to remote learning.

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Adams was asked whether there are concerns of schools in New York being short staff due to Covid-19. He stated that there’s a pool of employees who are waiting should there be an issue.

“We’ll shift and adjust and the information coming from our principals,” Adams said. “We’ll deploy where is needed.” Furthermore, Adams went on to add that the public needs to learn to live with the virus.

“We have to live with covid and modify our behavior because if another variant comes out, what are we going to do? We spent $11 trillion on covid. We don’t have another $11 trillion.”

“It’s time to live with Covid,” Adams insisted, “and build systems around Covid until it dissipates and leaves us.”
