WBAL-TV 11 has a new anchor coming to the television station as it announced that Khiree Stewart anchor the weekend editions of 11 News at 6 p.m., 11 News at 10 p.m., and 11 News at 11 p.m. Furthermore, Stewart will additionally report three nights during the week.
“We’re excited to have Khiree join our news team, both at our anchor desk and as a reporter,” Dan Joerres, president and general manager of WBAL-TV, said in a statement. “He’ll make an outstanding addition to the weekend evening newscasts working alongside Pete Gilbert and Tony Pann.”
Stewart has experience in a significant market as he comes over from WPHL-TV in Philadelphia, where he was a reporter and fill-in anchor. Before his tenure in the city of Brotherly Love, he worked as an anchor/reporter at stations in Richmond and Roanoke, Virginia.
The arrival of Stewart, whose first day at WBAL-TV will be Jan. 19, 2022, results in longtime WBAL-TV weekend anchor Kai Reed will shift to a Monday-Friday role.
Reed will continue conveying viewers breaking news and trending stories from 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. In addition, Reed will co-anchor 11 News at 10 p.m. with Ashley Hinson.
