This year is a midterm election year, and Variety reports that MSNBC is getting ahead of the curb to provide coverage.
When host Chuck Todd appears on MSNBC’s “Meet The Press Daily” Wednesday and Thursday, he will do so from Georgia. Todd will meet Georgia officials and candidates for office.
As the “Meet the Press” host gathers with officials and candidates in Georgia, it’s part of a bid by NBC News to extend out across the country to find the most important stories that will impact this year’s midterms and the 2024 presidential race.
“You cannot be a national news organization and cover the campaign process from Washington and New York,” Carrie Budoff Brown, the NBC News senior vice president, said.
Over the following weeks and months, NBC News correspondents will pursue influential individuals in battleground states. The hope is that the network will get ahead-of-the-curve information to news and politics enthusiasts.
Todd intends to visit battleground states in the coming months, with special “Meet The Midterms” broadcasts that will examine Senate and gubernatorial races in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.
