Former New York City mayor and 77 WABC radio host Rudy Giuliani was unmasked during an appearance for Fox’s “The Masked Singer” last week. The radio host is part of this season’s theme for the show: “The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly.”
However, Deadline reports that when judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke knew that Giuliani was the contestant, they quickly left the stage in protest.
The reaction to the former mayor joined another controversial contestant when former Alaska governor Sarah Palin appeared. As a result, the show faced criticism from some viewers when Palin was unveiled as The Bear.
Deadline adds that while Jeong and Thicke exited, the two eventually would return. Fellow judges Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger stayed onstage when it was revealed that Giuliani was under the mask.
The judges bantered Giuliani, a controversial figure for pressing claims that the 2020 presidential election was robbed from his client, former President Donald Trump.
Fox did not comment on what occurred during the taping of the show.
