Telemundo 47 in New York is shaking up its anchor lineup, per TV Spy. News anchor David Rodríguez is taking over as the new chief of Telemundo 47 Investigates when the team relaunches in late April.
Along with moving into his new position, Rodríguez will continue to anchor the station’s 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekday newscasts. Joining Rodríguez on the newscast for that time slot is Rosarina Bretón, who will be moving from weekends to weekdays.
Filling Bretón’s role on the weekend temporarily is Cristina Navarrete, Telemundo 47’s general assignment nightside correspondent, and a regular fill-in anchor for the weekend newscasts.
The final aspect of this shakeup will be welcoming a new face at Telemundo 47, as Alejandro Mendoza will be heading to New York on April 18, joining from sister station Telemundo KTMD in Houston, where he served as the evening news anchor.
Mendoza will co-anchor the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. weekday editions of Noticiero 47 Telemundo with Darling Burdiez.
“They will deliver the quality journalism that our viewers have come to expect from Telemundo 47,” Freddy Oldenburg, Vice President of News for Telemundo 47, said.
“They also know the important role that our station plays in the community, and I know that our viewers will respond to their human approach, genuine concern for our families, and deep passion for the neighborhoods we all live and work in.”
