The 94th Academy Awards occurred this weekend, and many watched to see whether their favorite films would receive an Oscar. However, nearly 24 hours since the event, people aren’t talking about which film, actor, or actress got snubbed for an award.
Most are talking about the incident between Chris Rock and Will Smith, who slapped the comedian after he joked about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s shaved head. Smith, Jada’s husband, rushed the stage and slapped Rock across the face.
It was a moment that crossed borders as the slap didn’t stay within entertainment and pop culture pundits; it even had those in the news media world buzzing.
The incident between Rock and Smith had Conan O’Brien wanting to come out of late-night show retirement for one night.
Radio host Erick Erickson stated that the slap wasn’t done to drive ratings since it would have been planned before the event to get people to tune in.
