Mick Mulvaney: The Rock Can Challenge Donald Trump in 2024

CBS News pundit Mick Mulvaney is looking past the midterm elections this year and has his eyes on the 2024 Presidential Election.

The former Chief of Staff supplied a list of three Republicans who could pose a serious challenge to former President Donald Trump in his run for another stint in the White House.

“[Gov. Ron] DeSantis [R-FL] could give him a run for his money. [Sen.] Tim Scott [R-SC] can give him a run for his money. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could give him a run for his money,” Mulvaney said in an interview with Politico.

“It’s a shortlist. By the way, there’s one other person who could beat him, which is himself. Donald Trump is sometimes his own worst enemy when it comes to campaigning.”

In the past, Johnson has pondered running for the oval office, and last year, he spoke with Vanity Fair about the prospect of putting his name as a presidential candidate.

“You know, at the end of the day, I don’t know the first thing about politics,” he admitted. “I don’t know the first thing about policy. I care deeply about our country.”

“I care about every f–king American who bleeds red, and that’s all of them. And—there’s no delusion here — I may have some decent leadership qualities, but that doesn’t necessarily make me a great presidential candidate. That’s where I am today.”
