Joe Gallagher is returning to the radio station that let him go in 2020. WGY announced that the veteran host is coming back live on air Monday during Doug Goudie’s morning show.
When Gallagher discussed returning to WGY, he told Goudie this morning that his program, which will air Saturdays and Sundays from 9 to 10 a.m., doesn’t plan on focusing on politics as one of the signature elements of his shows.
Instead, the radio host plans to interview locals, talk about upcoming events in the area, and chat about whatever he feels should be a topic of conversation.
“He’s been gone about two years, and pretty much on a weekly basis, I get listener feedback saying ‘Bring Joe back,'” Jeff Wolf, news and program director with WGY and Fox Sports 980, said. “We were thrilled. He was all about it, and, obviously, we are too.”
The station has recently had Gallagher on in February to host a few special programs. Wolf stated that it kindled talks between the company and him began regarding a more permanent return to WGY.
Furthermore, Gallagher also spoke about not having any hard feelings about being let go when WGY (and the company) did a reorganization. The radio host also expressed this one-hour show fits him better than the four hours of airtime he filled in his previous stint.
