Many are praising Elon Musk for his takeover of Twitter since, for some, it would mark the return of free speech to the platform. However, there are those such as basketball free agent Enes Kanter Freedom, who would want the Tesla CEO to dabble in other ventures like sports, particularly the NBA.
During an appearance on Fox News, Freedom was initially on the channel to discuss the NBA’s hypocrisy related to doing business with the United Arab Emirates. The league has encountered criticism for deciding to stage games in the UAE, where homosexuality is punishable by death.
This agreement conflicts with the NBA’s message from a few years ago when they decided to pull its All-Star Game out of Charlotte over North Carolina’s transgender bathroom law.
Nonetheless, the conversation shifted over to Musk, and Freedom was asked whether he would like to see him also buy the entire league. The 29-year-old stated that it would be his dream to see that as Musk could bring change as he’s likely to do so with Twitter.
“That would be my dream, you know,” Freedom stated, per The Daily Beast. “I think, you know, what he’s doing for free speech is amazing, and I think, you know, he can bring some justice to the NBA, and finally, maybe I can get to play basketball.”
Meanwhile, co-anchor John Roberts contemplated that the richest man in the world might be able to own every team in the league. “Hmmm. Thirty franchises, $2.8 billion apiece, maybe he could buy them,” Roberts concluded.
