There’s a bidding war in Chicago. Three radio groups are battling to become the new flagship home of the Bears.
Robert Feder reports that Audacy aims to keep the rights. The group’s news/talk station WBBM has been the team’s flagship since 2000.
The competition is coming from two sides. Good Karma Brands is looking to put the Bears on ESPN Chicago. iHeartMedia is in the fight as well. If it were to win out, the Bears would be heard on Rock 95.5.
No further details are available at this time. Feder writes that the Bears are not even committed to a timeline to announce a new deal.
iHeart has been busy during the NFL offseason. The company announced new flagship deals with the Commanders in Washington, DC and with the Panthers in Charlotte.
The last time the Bears’ radio rights were on the market was in 2017. At that time, the team signed a five-year extension with WBBM.
