Shula Neuman Is Out as News Director for St. Louis Public Radio

There are some changes at St. Louis Public Radio as Shula Neuman is no longer the News Director for the station. Her exit ends a six-year run in the position after being promoted in 2016 from her role as the station’s health, science, education, and race editor.

No explanation was given surrounding Neuman’s departure, but Radio Ink did relay the information that Brian Heffernan will serve as interim executive editor of the St. Louis Public Radio newsroom.

“Brian will continue the award-winning work of our newsroom by supporting our team of journalists as they engage our region in crucial conversations,” Tina Pamintuan, CEO, said.

“I thank him for his willingness to step into this role as we move forward with a local and national search.”

Heffernan is the digital and special projects editor and has been with STLPR since 2018 and is expected to hold onto this interim role for three to six months while the search for a new executive editor is underway.
