This summer could mark the end of Roe v. Wade as the Supreme Court could overturn the constitutional right to access safe and legal abortion. However, with this possibly ending, Fox News’ Jesse Watters called those fears overblown.
Watters stated that should abortion end up being outlawed in certain states, women who practice “unsafe sex” without local access to abortion can go for a brief drive to get one.
“If something comes down from this court, you might have to, if you practice unsafe sex, drive an hour across state lines to get an abortion,” Watters noted, per Mediaite. “It’s being overblown a little bit; let’s just keep this in perspective.”
Furthermore, the Fox News host added that he’s in favor of doing away with Roe v. Wade, considering the dame it has done to the country and the further division that it has created.
“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division,” Watters said.
