The midterm elections are still months away; however, The New York Times reports that around conservative radio shows, they’re declaring that the fix is in and that the Democratic Party intends to cheat.
Carol Ross, host of “The Ross Report,” asked how Democrats could win a presidential election again following a turbulent few years in power. “They’re going to have to cheat again,” she said. “You know that. There will be rampant cheating.”
Also, another station sharing similar points that Democrats will rig the elections this year is South Carolina’s Charlie James, a host on 106.3 WORD, read from a blog post arguing that “the Democrats are going to lose a majority during the midterm elections unless they’re able to cheat in a massive wide-scale way.”
The newspaper spotlights how the loudest and most constant booster of these unfounded election fraud claims has been talk radio. Furthermore, the Times says that mentions of “Democrats cheating” and matching ideas were expanded more than 5,000 times on syndicated radio shows and local broadcasts this year.
“Liberals or even most moderates never listen to it; they don’t pay attention to it, they don’t see it, they don’t hear it,” said Lewis A. Friedland, a professor who studies radio at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “So you don’t know it exists; you don’t know how widespread and how powerful it really is.”
Some radio networks cracked down on election fraud claims after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, so it will be interesting to see if there’s any fallout following this year’s elections.
