Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, announced on Monday that he would retire from government work in December.
Fauci could be done in government, but his next destination could be in news media. The Hollywood Reporter reported on Tuesday that “two different TV news outlets believe their networks would absolutely pursue a deal with Fauci.”
Additionally, these two sources told THR that they were unaware of any ongoing talks between Fauci and any network due to the government ethics rules.
“No TV news outlet would comment about their interest in Fauci on the record, though multiple networks noted that they regularly look to add new contributors,” THR continued.
Fauci would be the latest to jump from government to the media as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki joined MSNBC and will debut on the network this fall.
Symone D. Sanders is another that recently went from the Biden administration to joining MSNBC. It will be interesting to see if any networks jump with an opportunity for Fauci to join their network later this year.
