Jim Bohannon Returns to the Radio Airwaves

Radio Hall-of-Famer Jim Bohannon returned to the airwaves this week after battling undisclosed health problems. The “Jim Bohannon Show” host had been missing from his nationally syndicated Westwood One program for about five weeks.

Last month, Bohannon thanked his audience for their support during a pre-recorded message that aired during one of his programs.

“Hi. This is Jim Bohannon, and I hope it sounds like me. I’m sure many of you have noticed my on-air absence of late. I have some health issues which will keep me off a bit longer,” he said.

In 2003, Bohannon was inducted into the National Radio Hall-of-Fame. In 2021, he was enshrined into the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Hall-of-Fame.

“In the meantime, thanks to guest hosts Dom Giordano, John Trout, and Rick Valdes for continuing to fill in, and I hope to return to the Jim Bohannon Show in the not-too-distant future,” the message added.

During more than five decades on the air, Bohannon has earned the reputation as one of the most versatile broadcasters in the business.

In 1993, after serving as Larry King’s primary backup, he took over his coveted nighttime talk slot. Bohannon joined Westwood One in 1983.
