Chuck Todd Replies to Report Over Possible Ousting

NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd was in the news this week following a report from The Daily Beast, which reported that the network was pondering a switch in the host chair.

The show is reportedly dealing with low ratings, and NBC White House correspondent Kristen Welker is being put in a position to replace Todd.

However, Todd hinted on Twitter that this report might be exaggerated.

On Wednesday, Todd tweeted a link to Dictionary.com about Mark Twain’s famous saying, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” Then, the “Meet the Press host tweeted a link to Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers viral moment when he told fans to relax.

“We are immensely proud of Meet the Press – its legacy, its purpose, and its growth with new audiences,” an NBC News spokesperson told the Poynter Report on Thursday.

“We are especially proud of Chuck’s leadership and continued commitment to engaging a whole new generation of viewers in ways the program’s Washington peers are only beginning to imagine. That’s been our focus since day one and it continues to pay off for the brand.”

Todd recently signed a two-year extension, but it will be interesting to see if NBC does indeed decide to go in a different direction.
