Alturo Rhymes Named Story Editor for CBS Evening News

CBS News will have a new story editor for CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell as the company announced (h/t TV Newser) co-senior broadcast producer Alturo Rhymes is being promoted to the role.

The newscast’s executive producer Adam Verdugo states that from now on, Rhymes will be “ensuring that the broadcast is well-positioned to respond to breaking news and planned future news coverage.”

Additionally, Verdugo adds that the new story editor “will also manage producer assignments and shepherd the development of our signature series like Eye on America, American Innovation, and Moneywatch, just to name a few. Additionally, Alturo will continue to take the lead collaborating closely with our editorial, digital, bureau, and investigative teams.”

Rhymes joined CBS News in 2005, possessing previous experience working at NBC Nightly News, MSNBC and CNBC, so his vast background in news media could be why O’Donnell is excited about the promotion.

“Alturo is an editorial juggernaut- his decision-making and judgement is well regarded, not just here at the Evening News but of course across CBS News,” O’Donnell said.
