Earlier this week, Jim Nantz revealed he would step aside from his duties announcing the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and the Final Four, giving the job to CBS Sports announcer Ian Eagle. His son, Noah, said it has been a whirlwind few days for the family.
“It’s been a tremendous couple of days in the bird’s nest, as we like to call it,” Eagle told T-Row in the Morning on The REF. “I think that the coolest part is the reaction and it’s been overwhelmingly positive, whether that be social media or the people we know and have been around over the course of the last however many decades for him. He told me he got around 600 to 700 texts just in a day, in a 24 hour span.
“That’s what I think is always the coolest,” Eagle continued. “People are excited. People are happy for him. I’m glad to hear it. He’s worked his tail off and it’s well deserved for the long, illustrious career he’s had. I don’t even think — I know — he’s gonna go and dominate the assignment like he always does and I’m gonna be excited to following along as the journey continues.”
Noah Eagle has created quite the place in the industry for himself, alongside his father. He announced his first NFL game for FOX Sports earlier this month. In addition to his work as the radio voice of the Los Angeles Clippers, Eagle also is working college football games for FOX Sports this fall.
