2022 is coming to an end, which means this month, TIME magazine will give out its Person of the Year award, and NBC’s “Today” show obtained a copy of the shortlist (h/t The Hill).
There are 10 candidates; some of them are individuals who would receive the honor should they win it, while others are more organizations or groups.
Here’s the list of candidates:
- Elon Musk
- Xi Jinping
- The U.S. Supreme Court
- Liz Cheney
- Volodymyr Zelensky
- MacKenzie Scott
- Protesters in Iran
- Ron DeSantis
- Janet Yellen
- Gun safety advocates
For news media purposes, Musk has had an interesting 2022 as the Tesla CEO first stated he wanted to buy Twitter then attempted to back out after raising several issues.
Afterward, he ended up owning the social media platform as Musk now attempts to navigate Twitter 2.0, which has seen various suspended accounts return in recent weeks, including former President Donald Trump.
TIME magazine plans to name the winner on Wednesday.
