A grand jury in Manhattan has indicted former President Donald Trump, marking the first time a former U.S. president has faced a criminal charge, as noted by Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick.
Appearing on “Primetime with Jesse Watters, ” Travis recommended that Trump’s first speech after being arraigned should showcase the best of America. He also acknowledged the significance of the situation, emphasizing that it would be a significant media spectacle with cameras from around the world capturing the moment live.
“If I were Trump, I would speak to the American public and talk about recent immigrants to America. They came here because of American exceptionalism,” he said. “If you’re a Hispanic voter, you came here from Venezuela, or you came here from Cuba, or you came from some Latin American country where this is commonplace, I would make the case that this is outside the bounds of normal political life.”
Despite denying wrongdoing and repeatedly criticizing the investigation, Trump labeled the indictment “political persecution” and predicted it would harm Democrats in the 2024 elections. He is scheduled to surrender to authorities next week.
Travis recommended that Trump leverage the media to encourage the American people to vote for him so that he could shift the country’s direction.
“And stand up to this authoritarian regime to a communist takeover of American freedom. That’s how I would address America if I were Donald Trump,” Travis added.
