Last week, pundits widely speculated about Dan Bongino’s departure from Fox News. On his Rumble broadcast, Bongino addressed the rumors that he left the network because of the Dominion Voting Systems settlement and highlighted the politicization of that case with the network. He was bothered by the settlement regarding what this case means for free speech. He also stated that Dominion’s attorneys used the media to bolster its case against Fox News.
“Lawyers for Dominion are thanking the media; it’s the weirdest thing for a lawsuit against the media attacking the media,” said Bongino. “This case will have an incredibly negative consequence for the entire media ecosystem.”
Following the announcement of Dominion’s $787.5 million settlement with Fox News, the company’s attorney Davida Brook thanked the media for its help in the case. Network officials have maintained that the case was more about the noise generated from their political crusade than the actual case. Bongino asserted that Dominion worked hand in hand with the press to try the case in the court of public opinion before it ever reached the trial stage.
Bongino emphasized that the settlement would harm Fox News and rival networks such as CNN and MSNBC.
“This sends a chilling message across the media,” said Bongino. “Here’s the lawyer thanking the media for advancing the case against the media.
When discussing Brook’s statement, Bongino said he’s never witnessed anything like it. He denied any connection between his departure and that decision, instead attributing it to the failure of the network and his team to reach a contract extension.
“I’m not surprised there was an agreement between the two companies; it has nothing to do with that, no one communicated anything to me about it, but they agreed fine. Thank the lawyers, your team, the judge, and the jurors, but thank the media, who ran with it yesterday.”
“It’s this tyrant streak in them (media),” Bongino added. “They can’t resist wanting to give you the family-friendly, double-barreled middle finger.”
