On Wednesday evening, former Fox News host, Tucker Carlson, criticized cable news debates as “stupid” and “irrelevant” in a tweet. Additionally, he took several jabs at his former network for censoring meaningful discussions on substantive issues.
Carlson also promised his followers that he would make a comeback soon. On Monday, Carlson was reportedly caught off guard by Fox News’ announcement that they were parting ways; Carlson’s show had been the highest-rated program on the network.
Carlson tweeted his message when his previous show aired on FNC at 8:01 PM EST.
In a now-viral 2:16 clip, Carlson began his statement with his famous opening line from his top-rated show: “Good evening, it’s Tucker Carlson.”
“One of the first things that you realize when you step outside the noise for a few days is how many genuinely nice people there are in this country,” Carlson said. “Kind and decent people, people who care about what’s true, and hilarious people too.”
During his time away from Fox, Carlson observed that most television debates are stupid.
“They are completely irrelevant,” he said. “They mean nothing; in five years, we won’t even remember having them. Trust me as somebody who has participated. And yet, at the same time, the undeniably big topics that will define our future get virtually no discussion at all.”
Carlson referred to the media omitting essential discussions on topics such as war, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, and corporate power.
“When did you hear a legitimate debate about any of those issues? It’s been a long time,” he said. “Debates like that are not permitted in American media. Both political parties and their donors have reached a consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about that.”
Carlson stated that the United States suddenly appears to be a single-party nation.
“That’s a depressing realization, but it’s not permanent,” he said. “Our current orthodoxies won’t last; they’re brain dead, nobody believes them, and hardly anybody’s life is improved by them. This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue, so it won’t. The people in charge know this; that’s why they are hysterical and aggressive, they’re afraid, they’ve given up persuasion, they’re using force.”
Carlson stressed that truthful individuals who express themselves calmly become influential.
“At the same time, the liars who have been trying to silence them shrink and become weaker; that’s the iron law of the universe. True things prevail. Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren’t many places left, but they are some, and that’s enough. As long as you hear the words, there is hope; see you soon.”
