Elon Musk: I’m Not Paying Tucker Carlson

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, clarified on Tuesday that there is no agreement between the platform and Tucker Carlson, who recently announced a new version of his show on Twitter. Musk highlighted the interactive nature of the platform, where people can engage, criticize, and challenge the content.

“Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators. Rewards mean subscriptions and advertising revenue share (coming soon), which is a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising views associated with the content,” Musk said.

He emphasized that all content creators, including Carlson, are subject to the same rules and rewards, such as subscriptions and advertising revenue share. Musk encouraged individuals, including those with different political affiliations, to become content creators on Twitter. Furthermore, Musk clarified that Twitter had not signed any deal with Tucker Carlson.

“On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said,” Musk said. “And, of course, anything misleading will get @CommunityNotes.”

Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News host, announced on Twitter that he will launch a video program on the platform. In a video, Carlson criticized the current news media for presenting incomplete and false information.

Carlson expressed his views on the limitations of the news industry, stating that even if one tries to report the fullest truth, there are always limits that may result in termination. Carlson then praised Twitter, owned by Elon Musk, a self-proclaimed free speech advocate, and suggested that the platform is ideal for a show like the one he hosted on Fox News for five years.

“We think that’s a bad system. We know exactly how it works, and we’re sick of it. Starting soon, we’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter. We’ll be bringing some other things, which we’ll tell you about. But for now, we’re just grateful to be here. Free speech is the main right that you have. Without it, you have no others. See you soon.”
