As Tucker Carlson Prepares New Show, Twitter Extends Video Length Limit

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is preparing to move his show to Twitter, and the social media platform is altering its rules to make that transition a smooth one seemingly.

In a Thursday tweet, Twitter owner Elon Musk shared that the limit for users subscribed to Twitter Blue will now be extended to two hours.

The change is a drastic one for Twitter. Before the updated length, Twitter Blue subscribers could publish videos that were up to 2 gigabytes in size or 60 minutes. The two-hour length now allows videos up to 8 gigabytes. Non-Twitter Blue subscribers are still limited to just two-minute and twenty-second videos. It remains to be seen how Twitter will moderate the new video rules.

Previously, Musk has claimed he does not have a deal with Carlson in place for the popular host to move his daily video program to the social media platform. Late last month, the entire Super Mario Bros. Movie feature film was continually posted to the site. In a reply to Musk’s tweet announcing the change in video rules, a user jokingly uploaded Shrek The Third in its entirety.

“Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators. Rewards mean subscriptions and advertising revenue share (coming soon), which is a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising views associated with the content,” Musk said when Carlson announced the launch of his show on Twitter.

It’s not the first expansion Twitter Blue has seen under Musk’s stewardship. The subscription service allows users to create tweets of up to 10,000 characters compared to the 280 characters normal users receive.
