Arizona resident Ray Epps has filed a lawsuit against Fox News and former host Tucker Carlson, claiming he was defamed by the parties. Charlie Kirk believes it’s a frivolous suit.
During The Charlie Kirk Show Thursday, the Turning Point USA founder claimed Carlson was simply doing his job by pointing out Epps’ involvement in the January 6th Insurrection.
“Ray Epps has now filed a lawsuit against Fox News, saying that his life is ruined and damaged because Tucker Carlson alluded to the fact that he might have been a federal agent, allegedly, allegedly, allegedly,” Kirk repeated.
“He says ‘I’m not a federal agent’. And in his lawsuit, he says, ‘By the way, I’m gonna get arrested by the Department of Justice because of Tucker Carlson. Because a journalist did his job and exposed that I was in the Capitol when I shouldn’t have been there.'”
Kirk continued by questioning Epps’ motive.
“It is one of the weakest strangest lawsuits that I have ever seen,” he claimed. “I believe it is composed with the intent to try to scare Fox into settling into another Dominion-style settlement.”
Epps alleges that due to Carlson’s reporting surrounding January 6th, he has been forced to sell his home and flee in an RV due to persecution from the host’s viewers.
Kirk’s defense of Carlson and Fox News comes after the network has reportedly distanced itself from his Turning Point USA organization. According to a report from Semafor, Fox News “seems hesitant” to allow its hosts and reporters to attend events with election deniers after its $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems.
