Former Talk 99.5 news director and midday host Tim Melton has announced his next endeavor.
Melton tweeted that he is joining digital sports outlet The Next Round. Based in Birmingham, The Next Round was started by Ryan Brown, Jim Dunaway, and Lance Taylor after departing Talk 99.5’s sister station JOX 94.5 in June 2021.
While announcing his departure from Talk 99.5 late last month, Melton said “For the past 13 years, I have been able to work professionally in a medium that I have both loved and also, at times, have found to be downright heartbreaking. The radio business has provided so many life-changing moments. I am grateful to walk away from it on my terms.”
In a tweet announcing his move to The Next Round, Melton said “So many things to say soon about joining The Next Round team. Extremely grateful.”
Melton has yet to publicly comment further and has not disclosed what his position with the upstart digital outlet would entail.
In addition to serving as the Talk 99.5 News Director, Melton also co-hosted News & Views – the station’s midday show from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM – with Dale Jackson.
