After more than two months, Nexstar Media Group-owned stations returned to the channel lineups of DirecTV subscribers across the nation on Monday as the companies came to an agreement on a new distribution contract.
“DirecTV and Nexstar greatly appreciate the patience of their subscribers and viewers during this negotiation,” a joint statement from the companies read Monday.
The Nexstar blackout on DirecTV began on July 2. This came on the heels of months of negotiations that didn’t result in a deal right away. Financial terms of the agreement were not made public.
The two sides had a preliminary agreement in place on Sunday according to the LA Times, and DirecTV worked to get signals restored just in time for kickoff of Week 2 of the NFL season.
Last week Disney and Charter Communications reached an agreement on a new carriage deal. The dispute there left Spectrum customers without access to ABC and ESPN for both college football and the first Monday Night Football game of the 2023 season.
