Veteran talk radio host Tom Roten says he was laid off at iHeartMedia-owned WVHU-AM after three decades. NewsRadio 800 WVHU is located in Huntington, West Virginia. Roten had hosted the morning show for 22 years.
“All good things come to an end,” he said in a Facebook post. “I first went in as a lost sinner. Now as a sinner saved by Grace, I have left the building I worked in for 32 years after hosting the morning show for 22 years. I praise the Lord for allowing me the opportunity. Thank you, Roten Army!”
The company did not provide a statement explaining Roten’s departure.
iHeartMedia’s operations in the Tri-State region have recently witnessed a series of layoffs, including Judy Eaton, who had dedicated three decades to the company’s WTCR-FM country station and was let go earlier this year.
Roten tells Barrett News Media he will launch an online show on Lootpress.com.
“My new show will debut soon,” he added.
