There has been speculation about the reasoning behind Bally Sports Southwest deleting the video of Dallas Mavericks analyst Brian Dameris’s comments about James Harden, and The Ticket host David Mino and producer Justin Monty have a feeling Mavs owner Mark Cuban played a role.
Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina reported that sources told him the reason the video got taken down was because the comments went against company values. But Monty, who co-hosts Mavericks pregame and postgame coverage on The Ticket, said Tuesday on The Sweet Spot that he wasn’t buying it.
“We all know why it was taken down,” he said. “Cuban doesn’t want that out there.”
Monty added that it seemed counterintuitive to not let the video continue to gain momentum in the social media space as it was doing.
“It’s entertaining, and that’s what the NBA is,” Monty said. “It’s a league of entertainment.”
Justin Monty continued to point out that Dameris didn’t say anything that wasn’t true, and Mino agreed.
“It’s a timeline of all the missteps James Harden has had the past handful of years,” Mino said. “And it’s so weak that Bally decided to do this.”
David Mino continued to go in on Bally.
“Everybody doesn’t like you right now because most people can’t watch your product,” he said. “They don’t like your app. A lot of people are on these airwaves openly wishing for your financial failure so we can be free of Bally airing Stars, Mavs, and Rangers games.”
“So Bally, maybe you’re the bad roommate,” Monty responded.
