Big news for NFL fans — you won’t have to deal with commercials during the fourth quarter of the upcoming Peacock-exclusive game between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers.
According to figures provided by NBCUniversal, the game will deliver an over 40% reduction in standard NFL ad load resulting in more than 12 minutes of additional game-related content.
“We are proud to work with our partners at the NFL to present this first-of-its-kind experience,” said NBC Sports president Rick Cordella. “NBC Sports’ best-in-class NFL production, Peacock’s fan-friendly viewer experience, and this innovative advertising model will allow NFL fans an exciting new way to watch the game’s conclusion.”
So what will play instead of ads? According to NBCUniversal, the broadcast will instead feature special content takeovers and game features, integrating booth and studio updates and analysis. Expect to hear a lot of Mike Tiricio, Cris Collinsworth, and Melissa Stark, the latter of whom will be calling her 100th regular-season game from the sideline.
The Peacock-exclusive game between the Bills and Chargers airs this Saturday, Dec. 23 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
