Former CNN media reporter Brian Stelter spoke out on X regarding the constant battle the news media has regarding the struggle between truth and disinformation.
Stelter uploaded a snippet of his Monday conversation with MSNBC’s Joy Reid about the recent January 6 anniversary, which happened this past weekend. Instead of focusing on the trials and politics of the incident, the discussion shifted to news media and how it helped influence that event.
Stelter touched on a few Fox News personalities who were sharing disinformation, noting that supporters of Donald Trump needed to fight back leading up to the insurrection.
Afterward, he noted that news media members shouldn’t be labeled as “biased” or “partisan” for wanting to tell the truth and disprove any disinformation they see.
“In this environment, in the news media, we are playing tug-of-war,” Stelter said. “We are in the middle of a tug-of-war between the truth and terrible disinformation. It’s not biased or partisan to tug on the side of truth.”
