ABC News Stands to Lose Millions After Canceling GOP Primary Debate

ABC News will reportedly lose millions of dollars after the news outlet canceled its scheduled Republican presidential primary debate in New Hampshire.

Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy suspended his campaign, and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley informed the network she would not participate unless former President Donald Trump joined the event. Trump has refused to participate in debates, citing a commanding lead in the polls.

ABC News faced a situation where Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was the sole willing participant. Consequently, the decision to cancel was made, incurring significant costs. 

According to Puck News’ Dylan Byers, estimates suggest that ABC News stands to lose millions of dollars, ranging from $2.5 million to $4.5 million, covering expenses such as the debate set, site fees, stage crews, travel, hotels, security, catering, and more.

The report adds that ABC News chief Kim Godwin curiously informed staff that she might venture to Manchester nevertheless to meet with Republican officials.
