Apple Podcasts is set to create transcriptions in several different languages by the end of the first quarter as part of a new feature in the latest iOS update.
The new feature will use AI to transcribe podcasts into English, French, German, and Spanish in more than 170 countries, according to RadioInk.
Apple will allow content creators to upload their own transcripts or edit and re-upload the new transcriptions to the platform.
With the new offering, transcripts will be searchable, allowing listeners to move directly to where they’d like to go in an individual episode. Additionally, the AI-powered feature will include a “read-along” option, which will highlight words as they’re spoken in real time during the episodes.
Apple plans to eventually equip former episodes with the technology it hopes to launch by the end of March.
