Helmets & Heels on 1010XL: This is a Monumental Day for Sports Radio

1010XL in Jacksonville today debuted a brand-new lineup which features something never been done before. Helmets & Heels, a show featuring three women in the host chairs, has aired as a weekly show in the evenings and now airs daily from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The show features Lauren Brooks, Mia O’Brien and Taylor Doll.

As the inaugural edition of the daily show kicked off, Brooks said, “…We have been on once a week for the past nine and a half years, and now we are taking it Monday through Friday noon to 2 p.m…Everybody here has worked super hard for this opportunity and also I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to Steve Griffin our GM and everyone else along the way who has believed in us and supported us…so many people today have been texting me to the point that just before the show I had tears in my eyes because of how surreal this all is.”

Today being April Fool’s Day, O’Brien wanted to make sure the listeners knew that while there have been some jokes done in the past with programming, this is not one of them. “The calendar just lined up this way, it’s Monday…we are in draft month…baseball’s back,” Obrien said.

Taylor Doll added, “Congratulations to you guys. I know each of us have had very different paths to this day, but in some form or way, we have been wanting this to happen, so it has been really fun to watch everything unfold the last few years. Yes, thanks to Steve [Griffin], because this is a big gamble for him…he is doing the first of something that’s never been done…the first and only all women, daily sports talk show in the nation. So that’s a big thing, but us three have had conversations that we don’t want to be just that.

“Yes, we are women, and we love being women and we want to support other women, and this gives younger generations and younger girls, they can listen to us and be like, ‘I we can do that.’ But also, we love sports just as much as every man in this building and we want to talk about sports.”
