Mike Missanelli Upon Return to 97.5 The Fanatic: I Promise There Won’t Be Hot Takes on New Show

Longtime Philadelphia sports radio host Mike Missanelli returned to 97.5 The Fanatic to host a midday show that debuted Monday, and he made many promises to listeners of the station.

It was a homecoming of sorts for Missanelli as he returned to his former station to host the 10 AM-2 PM program. As he began Monday’s show, however, he wanted to make several items clear about what he views as smart, fun, and entertaining sports radio in 2024.

“I promise one thing: there won’t be any dumbass hot takes here,” Missanelli confidently said. “Since I’ve been away, people come up to me and say ‘I haven’t listened to a lot of sports talk radio.’ There are guys who say things like ‘Well, they need to move Trea Turner to right field when he comes back from his injury’ or they’ll say ‘Bryce Harper doesn’t run out balls all the time.’ Opinions like that, to me, are an insult to Philly sports fans. It’s just immature nonsense. Philly fans deserve better than that. You deserve the truth, you deserve logic, you don’t deserve hot takes.

“Now, we’re gonna go deep into hot topics. But they’ll always be based in good logic and analysis. Here’s one last thing: there won’t be any unwelcomed kisses,” he said, alluding to the controversy surrounding 94 WIP weekend host and Philadelphia sports radio legend Howard Eskin. “No unwelcomed kisses on this show!”

During his opening monologue, Missanelli thanked 97.5 The Fanatic Program Director Scott Masteller and Beasley Media Group Philadelphia executive Paul Blake for encouraging him to return to the station.
