Audacy Study Shows Radio Remains Most Trusted Media

Those surveyed added that they are 1.5 times more likely to rely on radio than television to check in on news.

Audacy has released the results of a new study showing that radio remains the most trusted news source, beating TV and social media in the process.

In a study conducted with Alter Agents of more than 2,500 listeners in seven Audacy markets showed that 85% of listeners find local radio news as “credible”, which tops every other medium.

“In an age of information overload, Americans seek credible news sources they can rely upon. Enter local news radio,” said Audacy CMO Paul Suchman. “Local news radio serves as a trusted voice, delivered by brands that are deeply connected to the communities they serve. These environments create exceptional opportunities for advertisers to reach engaged audiences with significant buying power. And the premium content local news stations deliver is unparalleled in its relevance, timeliness, and humanity.” 

The study also revealed that 70% of those surveyed rely on radio news to relay information in times of crisis or emergency. Those surveyed added that they are 1.5 times more likely to rely on radio than television to check in on news.

The listeners surveyed were from Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.
