Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer will be a prominent figure on the network’s election night coverage, and he says he’s been preparing for years.
Hemmer has been a key player for Fox News and its election coverage in recent years, and will man the “Bill-board” — the interactive map for the network — on Tuesday, November 5th.
In a profile with USA Today, Hemmer noted that he’s been working diligently to ensure everything goes smoothly for the biggest night in cable news, adding that he’s been practicing since 2021.
“We think we’ve been able to refine some tools for November 5 that will be unique but will also help the viewer understand the way the story is developing,” Hemmer says. “We’ve got some new tools, we got some new ideas, and all of that, together with our analysis and the real-time information we’re taking in, is going to make for a fascinating night for America and for all of our friends watching from overseas.”
Bill Hemmer continued by noting that the marathon coverage — with Fox News holding an eight-hour broadcast from 6 PM-2 AM ET — means he must mentally and physically prepare for the night days in advance.
“I think it’s really important to come in to the (election) day as fresh as you can be,” Hemmer says. “Which means, you’re disciplined on Friday, Saturday, most of Sunday. Monday, you’re kind of rolling into it and Tuesday it’s liftoff … We don’t know how late Tuesday night will go, and we don’t know if Tuesday night we’ll decide it and whether or not we’re still here a week later.”
