After 40 years in the news/talk format, Wendy Wiese has announced she’s retiring from The Big 550 KTRS in St. Louis.
Wiese will depart The Wendy & Frank Show — which she co-hosts alongside Frank Cusumano — from 10 AM-Noon at the end of the week.
“I’ve been doing this for over 40 years and the timing just seemed right,” Wendy Wiese told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Wiese spent a decade at KMOX in St. Louis before moving to The Big 550 KTRS in 1996 with co-host Bill Wilkerson. After 10 years, she departed to join a Catholic radio network before returning to KTRS in 2018.
Wendy Wiese and Frank Cusumano had only been paired together since August. Wiese had previously worked alongside Jennifer Blome in the daypart.
After her retirement, Cusumano will remain in the 10 AM-Noon window. He’ll now be joined by Jill Farmer on the St. Louis news/talk station.
For Wendy Wiese, the Missouri Broadcasters Association Hall of Famer said she is excited to embark on her after-radio life, but says there are certainly aspects she’ll miss.
“I’ll miss the listeners most,” Wiese said. “I was taught early on to respect someone who in the rush and crush of their lives, seeks out your company in real time. It’s special.”
