It has been a tumultuous few days for Twitter, and MSNBC primetime host Chris Hayes says it’s been interesting to follow the happenings with the social media platform.
Over the weekend, Elon Musk announced that Twitter would limit the number of tweets users could view daily. That development was not well received and led to strong pushback. Then, Instagram launched a competitor to Twitter, Threads, which saw explosive growth, garnering 30 million accounts in less than a day of operation.

“It’s been such a fascinating experience to watch Musk’s Twitter break down in all these ways,” Hayes argued. “I mean both break down in terms of like just the worst people on the internet being raised in the algorithm and in every reply. Also, we’re watching this process of kind of political radicalization in the worst way with him and is flirting with like, really racist stuff and really extremist stuff.”
After the launch of Threads Wednesday, Twitter has threatened legal action against Meta — the parent company of the new app — alleging it stole trade secrets from employees who were fired by Twitter after Musk took ownership of the company.
