Kate Longworth has been hired by FOX Sports Arizona to be a reporter during select Arizona Diamondbacks telecasts this season. Her first appearance on the network will be tonight’s D-backs and Giants game that starts with the “Diamondbacks Live” pre-game show at 6 p.m.
This is a homecoming for the Emmy Award-winning Longworth, a University of Arizona and Mountain Pointe High School graduate who returns to Arizona after working for Comcast Sports Net in San Francisco. She had numerous roles with the network while covering the Oakland A’s, Oakland Raiders, San Jose Sharks and San Jose Earthquakes since 2008. Her on-air role also included serving as Weekend Anchor for SportsNet Central, the Network’s flagship sports news program.
Prior to her time in the Bay Area, Longworth was the first female sports anchor/reporter at KPSP-TV (CBS) in Palm Springs, Calif. She also has experience as a sideline reporter for college football for the Big Ten Network, the MountainWest Sports Network (The Mountain) and spent time with Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic covering the Orioles.
She received her B.A. in Journalism while minoring in Spanish from the University of Arizona, where she was an assistant sports editor and writer for the school’s student newspaper, the Arizona Daily Wildcat. After college graduation she served as the media relations director for Major League Baseball’s Arizona Fall League and started her television career with FOX Sports Arizona, serving first as an intern and then as a production assistant.
