National championship-winning quarterback and SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy will join the desk of SEC Nation, the network’s traveling pregame show, this fall. The former Alabama Crimson Tide and Jets quarterback had been a college football studio analyst for the network over the past year, contributing half-time and post-game analysis for SEC Network’s football games throughout the 2014 season.
“Greg impressed us in studio last year with his passion for the conference and his knowledge of the game” said Stephanie Druley, ESPN senior vice president. “He brings a wealth of X&O’s acumen, and deep knowledge of the history and traditions of the conference, to the analyst role.”
SEC Nation returns for its second season Saturday, Sept. 5, with host Joe Tessitore, first-round draft pick and second-year analyst Marcus Spears, outspoken radio host Paul Finebaum, reporter Kaylee Hartung and McElroy. The two-hour show occupies the same timeslot as last year, airing every Saturday at 10 a.m. ET, live from a different Southeastern Conference campus. SEC Nation’s first stop will be announced next week.
