Baltimore sports media veteran Rob Carlin has been named co-host of Comcast SportsNet’s “SportsTalk Live” show with Brian Mitchell.
The weeknight sports talk and debate program airs live at 10 p.m.
Carlin will replace current co-host Chick Hernandez, who will return to covering the Washington Redskins full time.
Since joining CSN in October 2011, Carlin has been an anchor and reporter for “SportsNet Central” and hosted home-game editions of “Capitals Pregame Live” and “Capitals Postgame Live.”
Last season, he also served as the TV beat reporter for the Redskins. He has also hosted CSN’s “The Baseball Show” for three years.
Prior to joining CSN, Carlin covered local sports for Baltimore’s Channel 2/WMAR-TV and Channel 47/WMDT in Salisbury, Md. He’s also served as a sports producer for Baltimore’s Channel 45/WBFF and spent time as a radio host on Baltimore sports talkers WJZ-FM/AM.
“Rob has acquired a lot of knowledge, and a very interesting perspective, from covering every team in this region for more than a dozen years,” CSN Mid-Atlantic president Rebecca Schulte said in a release. “His enthusiasm and rapport with Brian will result in a very entertaining, high-energy show. The transition also allows Chick to return to a role for which he has tremendous passion and experience — covering the Redskins — while also giving him more flexibility to contribute to other platforms.”
