The San Diego Padres today announced a new broadcasting lineup for the 2016 season. Ford C. Frick Award winner Dick Enberg will return to the FOX Sports San Diego booth in 2016 as the primary play-by-play voice of the Padres. He will once again be joined by former Major Leaguer Mark Grant, who will mark his 21st season in the role of color analyst for Padres television broadcasts.
New in 2016, Don Orsillo will join the Padres broadcast team and will do select games for both television and radio broadcasts. Orsillo spent the past 15 seasons with NESN as the primary play-by-play announcer for the Boston Red Sox. A graduate of Northeastern University, Orsillo won an Emmy Award for outstanding play-by-play in 2003.
Last week, Enberg announced his plans to retire following the 2016 season. Orsillo will assume the role of primary television play-by-play broadcaster, commencing in 2017.
“We are excited to add Don to our broadcast lineup,” said Padres President and CEO Mike Dee. “Over his 15 years broadcasting Major League Baseball, Don has established himself as one of the premier play-by-play men in the game. We look forward to both his fun-loving personality and outstanding play-calling ability resonating with Padres fans during what we expect will be a very long career in San Diego.”
