SNY play-by-play man Gary Cohen was criticized in some quarters in 2006 for doing guest innings in the Mets’ radio booth during the NLCS — which became more noticeable when he called several key moments, including Endy Chavez’s famous catch in Game 7.
This time, Cohen is scheduled to stick to pregame and postgame shows on home games for SNY. But some wondered whether he might fill in for Josh Lewin for Game 3 of the NLDS, when Lewin will be busy working the Chargers’ Monday Night Football game.
(When he is not calling Mets games on the radio, Lewin is the Chargers’ lead play-by-play man.)
That is not the plan, though. Wayne Randazzo, WOR’s Mets reporter, will fill in for Lewin alongside Howie Rose that night.
Lewin is scheduled to work all other Mets playoff games on WOR regardless of the Chargers’ schedule.
