iHeartMedia San Diego, the flagship radio broadcaster for the San Diego Chargers Radio Network, announced today the that Nick Hardwick will be the new Play-by-Play Color Analyst for the Chargers Radio Network starting with the 2016-17 NFL Season.
As part of the new Chargers Broadcast Team, Hardwick will join Josh Lewin, play-by-play announcer, in the broadcast booth.
“I’m so incredibly thankful and wildly excited for the opportunity to still be involved with the game I’m passionate about, and the team I love,” said Hardwick. “I plan to bring the same work ethic, curiosity, energy, and own brand of humor to the Chargers Radio broadcast as I did to the football field for more than a decade. I look forward to learning from my partner, one of the best in the game, Josh Lewin, and growing into a professional color commentator.”
Hardwick, a third-round choice in 2004 out of Purdue, spent 11 seasons as the San Diego Chargers’ center from 2004-2014. During his career, he was considered the anchor for a dynamic offensive line, developed into a fan favorite and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2006.
“Josh and Nick will make a terrific broadcast team,” added Melissa Forrest, Region President for iHeartMedia San Diego/Riverside. ”Josh is one of the premiere play-by-play broadcasters in the business, and Nick is a respected former player, Chargers favorite and possesses intimate game-day knowledge. I am sure our fans will love this new combo.”
“We’re excited about Nick’s expanded role in the broadcast and really looking forward to hearing what Josh and Nick can do together,” said A.G. Spanos, President-Business Operations for the Chargers.
Mike Costa, co-host of the “Loose Cannons” on XTRA 1360 Fox Sports San Diego, will continue as sideline reporter.

All the games can be heard on Rock 105.3 FM and XTRA1360 Fox Sports San Diego. Listeners will get their first chance to hear the new Chargers Radio Broadcast Team when the San Diego Chargers host the Tennessee Titans in their pre-season opener on Saturday, August 13, 2016.
