710 ESPN Seattle is making a major move in middays, giving “The Professor” John Clayton his own daily talk show. Clayton will officially take over on Monday and host weekdays from 10a-12p PT.
To make room for Clayton, the current midday show featuring Justin Myers and Gee Scott is being dropped. Myers was let go by the radio station on Wednesday. Scott is being reassigned to another role. For the rest of this week, Scott will continue hosting the midday program.
In addition to his new midday program, Clayton will continue to host his Saturday morning show. His duties with ESPN won’t be affected. He will also host an original weekly podcast and write for 710Sports.com, along with making a weekly appearance on the “Brock and Salk” morning show, and “Danny, Dave, and Moore” afternoon show.
“I’ve spent 30 years in the Pacific Northwest, and the time couldn’t have been better to expand my local presence here at 710 ESPN Seattle,” Clayton said. “I’m also excited to focus on the Seahawks, Mariners and the Seattle sports scene in an expanded role for 710Sports.com.”
As the flagship radio station for the Seattle Seahawks, adding Clayton on a daily basis should provide a major lift in mid-mornings for 710 ESPN, especially during football season when sports radio listening is at its peak. With Brock and Salk serving as a lead-in during mornings, and Bob, Groz, and Tom following Clayton, the radio station has given itself a chance to compete consistently in all three dayparts.
“We are thrilled at the opportunity to include the most highly acclaimed local sports media personality to our local weekday lineup,” said Dave Pridemore, Vice President and General Manager of 710 ESPN Seattle. “With over 1.4 million Twitter followers and a Hall of Fame résumé, John Clayton will be a tremendous addition for both 710 ESPN Seattle and 710sports.com.”
Here’s a look at the new lineup as of Monday June 6th:
7A-10A = Brock and Salk
10A-12P = John Clayton
12P-3P = Bob, Groz and Tom
3P-7P = Danny, Dave and Moore
