Talk Radio 910 (KKSF-AM) in San Francisco has elected to make a change in afternoons. ‘The Dog House with JV and Elvis‘ broadcast their final show on the radio station yesterday. The radio station’s website no longer lists the show as part of its weekday lineup.
So who’s taking over the timeslot going forward?
That’s still to be determined, but one thing for certain that Barrett Sports Media has learned is that Jay Mariotti will step in today on the afternoon show. He’ll appear on the air from 4p-6p PT. Sources say that it’s a fill-in situation for now, but as we know in the broadcasting business, a good performance can always lead to more, especially when an opportunity is available.
Mariotti moved to the Bay Area to write for the San Francisco Examiner in March 2015. He left the newspaper in March 2016. While he certainly has his fair share of fans and critics, his ability to generate interest and reaction in print and on-air is undeniable. He’s been a featured columnist and on-air talent in Chicago, as well as on the national stage with ESPN, the Sporting News, and AOL.
One other element that will be interesting is the content direction of the program. Sources tell BSM that Mariotti will spend time on the show discussing sports, politics, lifestyle, and other interesting social and day to day issues. Given his opinionated nature, he should have plenty to say on all of those subjects. To hear the show, click here.
