Arkansas Online reports that Matt Jones has left his weekday afternoon show on The Buzz 103.7 FM in Little Rock. Jones’ last day was Friday. According to Program Director Justin Acri, the former NFL player and Razorbacks star is still expected to make occasional visits to the radio station.
“He wanted to get out of the daily deadline-driven grind that we’re in here in radio,” Acri said of Jones, who worked as co-host of Overtime with Trey Schaap. “We’ll hopefully get him back soon.”
Jones was hired by The Buzz three years ago and worked on the 1p-3p program, which airs weekdays in Little Rock and on the station’s affiliate in Fort Smith, KHGG-FM, The Sports Hog 103.1.
Acri is optimistic that the vacancy will be filled within the next few weeks, adding that the interest in the position has been overwhelming.
